Re: engine hydrolocked please help phazar454mag, sounds like we have the same problem other than you were much more lucky than myself. just talked with a guy and was told that more than likely it was the riser gaskets based on the starboard side haveing water.. The most common thing to cause hydrolock is water going up the exhaust for whatever reason - be it dieseling backwards, or parking the boat with the arse end up stream, or backing up hard with a center-mounted kicker motor. the next most common cause is making the engine go under water. like i said, pretty evident.. When you hydrolock a motor, usually the connecting rod gets either bent, or worse case scenario, it snaps. if it just has water in the engine and won't start because of that, you need to get all the water out, pull out the spark plugs, roll it on its side and hit the start button.. do that a few times and try to get as much water out as possible..
